The charming Charlotte, in North Carolina, Queen City, is home to welcoming people, many green spaces and everything is a long walk. Charlotte offers visitors much to see and do, for art lovers, those who love history, sports fans and those like me who are attracted to nature, there is a diverse group of green spaces and parks.
Curiously, when I chose Charlotte as a first solo trip and people asked me why, I had two simple reasons, above all, I wanted to visit the North Carolina zoo and secondly to meet one of my favorite bloggers. But as the world still likes to launch me curved balls – even if I have no interest in baseball – none of these two things has been sweated. The travel blogger I had hoped to meet unfortunately was not going to be in town for my visit and the zoo was simply too far away, without transportation that could take me there. Two strikes – I was not going to leave these features or a third possible strike get me out of the game or overturn me. I was determined to see what Charlotte had to offer and enjoy my visit.

During my first full day, I realized that the city had a lot to offer with secret jewels on every street corner – like superb statues, green spaces and parks abound – as well as up Park FreedomAnd a charming judge in all. It was this first day that I came across the theater where they played the “sleeping beautiful wood”. I was delighted to discover that I was able to get a cheap ticket ($ 20) for the opening evening of this night. I was so excited to see my first ballet, and this in particular, the modern Gothic turn of Matthew Bourne on the classic tale of the beauty of the Droom. It was beautiful and beautiful, like a delicious sweetness for the senses.
One thing that has really stood out about the charming Charlotte was the total cleanliness of the city, I have never seen waste or cigarette butts or even a cup of coffee. Charlotte was not only clean, but Wi-Fi was excellent! For travelers, especially bloggers, Wi-Fi is essential and speed and strength were excellent in cafes, restaurants and even other places near these establishments.
Charlotte has a lot for the sports fan, such as the huge Nascar museum as well as a track just outside the city, the Panthers Stadium and the Time Warner Arena. But a sports fan that I am not. So I was satisfied with all the Charlotte museumsLike the Free Wells Fargo History Museum which was entertaining and interesting, and the Museum of Modern Art Bechtler. I was seduced with the striking “Firebird” statue keeping in front of the art museum on its treasures of Picasso, Warhol and many others. I was also happy, without visiting the zoo, to get my animal Discovery With his enchanting exhibition of tropical forest where I could have stayed all day to look at and look for all the species of birds that reminded him at home, and their aquarium which attracts you in its deep blue. I also visited the Charlotte Nature Museum which had native species of turtles, snakes, owls and mammals such as opossums and others.
My main method for exploring a new city is on foot, from sidewalks to trails, passing by beaten track. This is how I walked in the sadly famous 4th district of Charlotte. The city is made up of four districts, the 4th housing historic Victorian houses which are over 100 years old, hidden foot trails and a charming park full of eclectic bird houses which seemed completely outside Alice in Wonderland. I loved walking in these streets with their colorful houses full of personality and so calm, you could hear the birds sing, you have the impression that the city is miles instead of simply in a corner.
From where people live in the place where they rest, it could be morbid for some, but I am always fascinated by the old cemeteries and loved to browse their tombstones in ruins in search of the words of these lives which once called this city. The Charlotte’s Settler cemetery is just a historic place, just in the city which was used from 1776 to 1867. It was strange to see people cross the cemetery which quickly passed from possible ancestors without notice. It made me think that we have to learn from our past, our history, in order to walk freely in our possible future.
One afternoon, I decided that I wanted to know more about Charlotte and what a better way than by a room, so I decided to tour. I was told of various people that the best was C-Charlotte Tours, so I reserved a place. I was struck when the van stopped at my hotel to see that I was the only passenger and that I was in turn a “private” visit to Charlotte. Good! He was great, and his love and his passion for his city came in everything he was talking about, I couldn’t help but love him too! One thing that we, as travelers, always have to do in a new city or a new city, is to connect with the inhabitants, whether by a visit or otherwise, to learn from someone who calls this place at home and knows its secrets.
For my last day in Charlotte, since my flight did not leave before the evening, I made a last walk and I decided to visit the museum A after a stop in my favorite cafe, Amelie’s – a co -length (in style and people – customers and staff) with whom I shared a coffee for writing. On my way to Amelie, I thought how much the streets are a ghost city on a Saturday morning, very different from the jostling of business folk in costume and in cells rushing to the next meeting in high finance – which I could add are always polished and relaxed so as not to run and gently leave a woman to leave first. But after leaving the coffee, I was shocked to see hundreds of people aligned themselves along the streets and entertaining cops – at first, I thought that something bad happened, an accident or something else, but while I was going to trade and I went to Theron Square, I noticed a truck of firefighters parked with a huge American flag suspended. Then it started. It was the veterans parade. What way to finish my visit with a parade, surrounded by so many happy and grateful people who are proud of their country. I was amazed by energy, it was palpable, while the young and the old applauded and agitated their flags, it was exhilarating to do it. Another thing I have realized that we, travelers, should always do is trying to celebrate with a festival or a parade in the country in which we get closer and you cannot help like this country and its inhabitants with all this positive and intense energy that surrounds you.
For my first solo trip, I realized that life was full of surprises. Although I could not do what I went to Charlotte for, I came to the conclusion that these are only things I wanted to do and even if I did not do these things, I did so much more. And why did I really go to Charlotte, or anywhere indeed? I went – I have traveled for the pure happiness that the trips bring, I have traveled to see new things, learn more and meet the world in general. Traveling to Charlotte was like visiting an old trusted friend who always welcomes you with a warm and welcoming embrace. Charlotte was a small town but with a great charm.
