5 best places to see cherry blossoms in Markham


There is nothing more exciting than when flowers start to flower in the spring. One of my favorite things to do in the spring is to see Sakura flowers in flowers. While many visit High Park, I have an excellent alternative to Toronto. There are a number of places to see cherry blossoms in Markham and you will not have to fight with crowds like in Toronto.

Markham is one of my favorite places to explore because he has so much to offer, but is filled with hidden jewels. Like Sakura Trees at Toogood Pond Park in Unionville and Redgeside Promenade. Even on a beautiful sunny and warm day, each of the locations of the Markham cherry flower, I have visited little for no people.

So, if you are looking for an excellent alternative to cherry locations in Toronto, I strongly recommend that you plan a day trip to Markham.

When can I see cherry flowers in Ontario?

Depending on weather conditions, cherry blossoms flourish in Ontario between the end of April to mid-May. You can see the flowers due from one to two weeks.

Park Pond Toogood

The best cherry blossoms in Markham are in Toogood Park. This charming park is located in the historic village of Unionville.

In 2023, 40 cherry blossom trees were planted. As soon as you arrive in the parking lot, you will find the Japanese Sakura on the hill behind the lot. The trees line the hill and descend to line the path that goes around the pond.

I wandered on a hillside by photographing young trees and I crossed with others when I left. Limited crowds make Toogood Pond Park an excellent alternative to Cherry blossoms in high park.

Markham Civic Center

In the park that wraps around the Markham Civic Center are 25 other cherry blossom trees. The Civic Center is the town hall of Markham and the neighboring Park is a popular place to visit all year round.

During the winter, the park is home to a large outdoor skating rink. But I think the best time to visit is in the spring. In the spring, all flowers flourish and you can enjoy the cherry blossom trees.

The Civic Center Markham Park includes gardens and winding trails. Along the trails, you will find a number of information plates highlighting some of the interesting sites in the park.

Initiate Council: Look for the work of bright orange art in the park. This is part of the York region Determine. The trail includes 8 unique pieces by Aboriginal artist Donald Christian in various attractions in the region.

Red walk

One of the hidden jewel spots to see cherry blossoms in Markham is along the Redsside promenade. This quiet street is parallel to motorway 7 between Warden and Village Parkway.

The 40 reddish Promenade Cherry Blossom are located in the two parks along the road, Promenade Park and Dragonfly Park.

These picturesque city parks run along the red river and offer a beautiful place to picnic among the Sakura trees. I was amazed by the way no one was there to look at the delicate pink flowers flowering.

Milne Dam Conservation Park

One of the top Things to do in Markham Visit Milne Dam Conservation Park. It is the largest park in the city and which houses 15 cherry blossom trees.

The park is full of cool sites! Beyond the cherry flowers trees in the Milne dam conservation area, the park offers picturesque bridges, walking trails, a beach and more.

Exhausting over 400 feet, the suspension bridge of the Milne dam crosses the Red River. It is one of the most picturesque places in the city.

Initiate Council: I strongly recommend visiting the park during the week because it is free. However, it is always a pleasant place to visit the weekend and the costs are just a few dollars.

Berczy Park North

In a quiet area northeast of Unionville is Berczy Park North. This charming park is home to flower trees and is ideal for families with children.

Berczy Park North offers a playground, a splash pad and a sports center. There is a football field and a tennis court. In addition, you will find a picturesque pond with a bridge that crossed it.

Places to find cherry blossoms near Markham

Sussex Park – If you are looking for flower cherries near Richmond Hill, go to Sussex Park. This charming little park is located in a mature district in Richmond Hill. Sussex Park has more than 12 cherry blossom trees. I recommend visiting in the morning because I only met two people who were walking their dogs.

Keele campus of the University of York – For those who wish to find hidden gems, go to the Keele campus of the University of York. Near the Calumet residence, you will find two rows of cherry flower trees.

Birkdale Ravine – West of Thomson Memorial Park, you will find one of the best places to see cherry flowers near Toronto, the Birkdale ravine in Scarborough. This jewel of a park is home to 45 cherry blossom trees.

Markham is the ideal destination to see cherry blossoms in Ontario without the crowd as in popular places in Toronto. I love the way each place offers something different, from picturesque parks to street jewels.
