Durrell Wildlife Hostel
Located in the northeast corner of Jersey, one of the Anglo-Norman Islands off the coast of France, the Durrell Wildlife Park, a conservation leader and a zoological park thinking. On site is the durrell fauna hostel with 35 beds and from £ 30 at night, it is an ideal place to stay when visiting the wildlife park or even exploring the rest of Jersey. There is a bus stop just in front of the park for easy access to the rest of the island and it is only 10 minutes walk from a coastal walking path in the cliff.
The dourrell fauna hostel takes place in “Les Noyers”, an old traditional jersey farm that Durrell bought to develop it in a residential training training program for recovery of endangered species, but in 2010, it was opened to tourists. Each piece of the hostel is named after an endangered species and many rooms offer a view of the land of the Durrell Wildlife Park. Your stay is a continental breakfast, free Wi-Fi and the use of the computer laboratory and the TV show.
Your stay is also included a single free entry into the Durrell Wildlife Park, and what a park is! It is a “zoo” but not in the traditional sense, hence the name, and shelters more than 120 species ranging from lemurs to fruit-frying bats and gorillas to a kind of frog called the mountain chicken. The park is home to some of the most threatened species on the planet as well as a coffee, a restaurant and dispersed throughout the day, be sure to catch at least one of their caretaker discussions to find out more.

My stay
I was given a room to me on the top floor, and when I entered, I saw the name of my room – torti for the giant tortoise of Rodrigues supported in the saddle of Mauritius, as attached. Upon entering, I was welcomed by the sweet smells of fresh laundry, a perfect little bed in a corner, an old wooden desk in the other, capable of making some writing and three windows, one of which had swept views of the inn garden and even the orangutan speaker from wild park to far.
In the morning, I was awakened by the lemurs’ choir, whose enclosure was nearby, who at the time of alarm clock lets you confused – do I just wake up in Madagascar? For the lover of animals in me, it was a great way to wake up. After having prepared myself, I went to breakfast in their charming kitchen / dining room in firm style and I sat in front of the fireplace. During my meal, I was surrounded by families and even environmentalists who study and / or worked at the Durrell Wildlife Park. I guarantee you that you will never find a boring conversation!
One of the highlights of me was the Durrell Journal Room, right next to the TV show. Once inside and the door closed behind me, I was surrounded by apparently endless information of Gerald Durrell’s books in various languages with fauna magazines and tons of zoo -zoo journals from around the world. For a fauna and a book nuts like me, I was intoxicated by the abundant reading at the end of my finger.
