With another year that ended up talking about New Years plans. There are many cities in the world Edinburgh But there are many others to choose. To help you with ideas, I asked my colleagues travel bloggers what their best cities are to celebrate the New Year.
10 places to celebrate the New Year
Toronto, Canada of me!
There are impressive cities to celebrate the New Year across Canada. But my favorite is TorontoOntario! Join the Merry crowd at Nathan Phillips Square for the great New Year’s celebration adapted to the family. All night long, a lot of things happen, such as entertainment, live music, food and more. A fun way to wait for your time is to take a ride around the skating rink. And of course, to complete the night, there is an epic fireworks that will make you applaud the new year.
Edinburgh, Scotland Since Kate to this could lead to anywhere
The traditional Hogmanay of Edinburgh dates back hundreds of years and is still important for Scottish today. There is a procession in flames which was initially celebrated by the Vikings. The warm light of torches shines in the freezing air and people cross the city the day before the end of the year. Fireworks, music and the good spirit of the Nye festival of Edinburgh in Princes Street and Grassmarket cannot be beaten. Hearty dishes, hot toddies and many songs mark the opportunity. If you want tradition, history, a big party and sing and dance Auld Lang Syne in the new year, it’s the best place to do so.
Zagreb, Croatia Since Sarah-Jane & Mec at Chase the donkey
Zagreb, the capital of Croatia and the place to be for the New Year in Croatia. What I like in the new year in Zagreb is that the city is in celebration mode. Zagreb celebrates the advent for the whole month of December with the festivities that ended in Nye. The city is decorated with lights and there are performance in all the main squares and parks. We spent Nye to Ban Jelačić square a few years ago when some of the best artists in Croatia played. If you have small children and want to enjoy nye somewhere a little more discreet, go to Zrinjevac park, which is only 5 minutes walk from the main square. In Zrinjevac park, you can have fun all evening, looking at the performance of the old music pavilion long after midnight in the new year. There is a lot of room to spread out and to keep an eye on children. Zagreb is a city that has something for everyone on Nye.
Bangkok, Thailand Since Stefan and Sébastien at Nomadic boys
Last year, we celebrated the New Year at Gay Silom in Bangkok, one of our favorite gay scenes in the world. An evening there always becomes in disorder, especially in Nye. Ladyboys and dragster shows are at their peak with some of the best outfits of all time and everyone is always in a happy party mood that you guarantee a great evening.
We love Bangkok, especially in the New Year!
London, England Since Odoardo in Queidue
Our choice of better cities to celebrate New Year’s Eve is one of the most visited destinations in the world: London. This destination all year round is particularly charming in winter, when the cold and the snow possible create an atmosphere of fairy tale. It is considered the economic and cultural center of Europe during the rest of the year, but during New Year’s Eve, he becomes the ideal place if you want to live the best parts of the world.
Celebrating New Years in London is something that everyone should live once in their life. Midnight must be devoted to looking at the fireworks above the river Thames and one of the most congested and most crowded places is Trafalgar Square, where the statues of Admiral Nelson and his Lions seem to monitor all the people who gathered there to celebrate.
When the fireworks end and the sky resumes its black color, it is time to meet your friends in one of the thousands of bars / pubs / clubs in the city. You can find all kinds of bar, all types of music, all kinds of people: in other words, you can find exactly what you like and you can wait for the New Year’s dawn with the best party in your life.
Riviera São Lourenço, Brazil Since Travel Babes Budget Chantell
Riviera São Lourenço, Bertioga is a two-hour drive from downtown Sao Paulo by car (without traffic) and I was invited by a Brazilian family to celebrate New Year’s Eve. At the time, I lived and taught English in Brazil, but the customs of Brazilians were still very new for me. We spent a week in their villa by the beach, constantly gorging delicious meals, crunching the beers shortly after breakfast, then dragging our beach chairs and our sand parasols. On the New Year’s Eve, after another attractive party, the group worked towards the seaside to count until the new year. At midnight, everyone kissed and wanted “Feliz Ano Novo”. Champagne has been paid and transmitted. Then, to finish the experience, I participated in the Brazilian tradition to jump on seven different waves while doing the wish of my New Year.
Goa, India Since Anna at Worldwide
Do you want to finish the year with a specular sunset on Oman’s sea and party at midnight in the sand? Then Goa in India is a perfect place to celebrate New Year’s Eve!
Tropical Goa is the most relaxed state in India and with more than 100 km of coastline, there is something here for everyone. Pass New Year’s New Year’s Eve or relax in a luxury station on a serene beach, making yoga at sunset, or you could spend the night to party in a nightclub or under the stars in one of the legendary raves on one of the popular beaches with ride and hippies in North Goa. Christmas and New Year are quite busy in Goa with perfect hot seas and sunny days. North Goa is generally more busy than South Goa, so go north if you want to party and south if you just want to relax. In addition to the large beaches, fierce fish currys, the unique charm of colored Indian culture, animated nightlife and funky Goa markets is also an incredibly affordable destination, so that you can relax and enjoy your vacation without feeling the pinch in January!
New York, United States Since Toni to Enchanted serendipity
My choice for the best cities to celebrate New Year’s New Year’s Eve in New York. In 2012, I did the Times Square Ball Drop. I waited 1 pm for this ball to go down the post. But it was worth all the pain, the time frozen and not being able to go to the toilet all the time I was there. The energy of a million people in the same place, counting this last minute in 2012 was incredible. I will never forget this feeling. It was the most electric moment in time and has not been beaten since. An experience once in a life to celebrate the new year.
Philadelphia, United States Since Suzanne at Boomeresque
My choice for the best cities to celebrate the New Year is in my hometown of Philadelphia, in Pennsylvania, in the United States, when Philly welcomes the annual Mammers parade all day in Broad Street. Clubs in the whole city compete with developed costumes of glitter and feathers. They interpret their own music while they make the “Mimmers leg”. Nothing can be motorized, so they push their floats along the parade road until they reach the judgment platform where they make a performance on the theme. Various mumn clubs in the whole city are in competition. Clubs often have members of several generations of the same families. The first milet in Philadelphia were the Swedes in the 1600s. The official parade has been a match of the New Year’s New Year of Philadelphia since 1901.
Chiang Mai, Thailand Since Stu & Eloise at Am I still there?
We spent the new year 2013 in the 2nd city of Thailand – Chiang Mai! When we arrived, we literally had no plan or agenda because we had just finished a marathon bus trip from Laos – 16 hours buried like chickens, and in fact with chickens, at the back of a minibus. By fighting the desire to take a nap, we left with our travel friends to see what Chiang Mai had to offer …
Wandering in the city, we noticed some lights in the sky, like planes in the distance. We started to notice more, then when we arrived on the street in one of the main streets, we could not believe what we saw … literally thousands of people preparing the Sky lanterns! Like a hot air hot air balloon! The festival is called “Yi Peng” (Lantern Festival).
The sky is literally transformed into an epic and surreal sea of lanterns floating in the night. Then, to top it all, at midnight, fireworks illuminated the sky. Incredible stuff! The view was really fascinating. Everyone was involved, the inhabitants, foreigners, young people and the big ones! It was so impromptu and unexpected, and to think that we almost went directly to bed! If you are in Thailand, Chiang Mai is one of the best cities to celebrate the New Year. Certainly head north in Chiang Mai for a unique visual treat!
