Located on 300 acres, Kew Gardens is the largest collection of living plants in the world and one of the Unesco London sites. Housing more than 14,000 trees and more than 30,000 different types of plants, Kew Gardens is an impressive place to immerse yourself in the wonders of nature. With such a massive space and a wide range of things to do and buildings to explore, you could easily spend the whole day and not live everything. But if all you have is a day, here are the 5 main attractions of the Kew Gardens.
Palm
Hairdressing house
Prepare before you intervene in Kew Gardens’ hottest and weakest glass houses. This small greenhouse offers a walk around its circular path with a pond in its center and has giant lilk pads, some quite large for an adult man curls up and lies down. The house of Waterlily also houses other tropical and ornamental aquatic plants.
Princess of Wales Conservatory
Named for the beloved princess Diana, the princess of the Wales Conservatory is 4,500 square meters and a greenhouse on several levels which houses 10 different climatic zones with a plethora of plant species, ferns to orchids and cacti with carnivorous plants. It is an incredible and environmental building building that maximizes energy by arranging the cooler climatic areas around the outer edges and the hottest inside and allows maximum exposure to the sun to its plants by making the glass go to the ground.
Temperate house
* Currently closed due to restorations and will reopen in 2018.
The temperate house is the largest surviving Victorian greenhouse, built in 1860, it is 4,880 square meters. With a central nave of 62 ′ (19 m) of high, it houses plant species from temperate regions around the world.
Kew Palace
It may be the smallest of the British royal palaces, but seeing the touch of color among the green of Kew gardens and that will take your breath away. Small and picturesque, Kew Palace was originally built in 1631 for a Flemish merchant but was acquired by the royal family for King George II and his three older daughters. With rooms decorated as they were in the past, with beautiful furniture and paintings from the royal family that recalled it at home, the stories that haunt the walls of Kew’s palace are told through each room and the presence of life, sadness and death will infiltrate your bones.
Other notables
While the above views are my choices of the best Kew gardens sites, other notables include the pagoda, which is held high in an open field near the Japanese gateway, the Rhizotron & Xstrata gateway, which allows you to see birds of birds on the park while you walk among the leaf trees, and the lake, at home, to various species of birds, in peaceful banks erect
