I’m going to start with the moral of this story … always say yes to the new adventures! We all know that it is a good motto to live, but sometimes we have to remember. This summer was a whirlwind of adventures throughout my own courtyard. And I am living proof that you can always travel, have many adventures and always work full time. Although I get four weeks of vacation paid per year, I also enjoy my weekends.
A few days before the long weekend in September, I was contacted by my colleague travel blogger, Lindsay de I was little and Lauren de Justin plus Lauren. Would I like to go to Beausoleil Island? And with barely hesitation, I said yes! We were all jazz to go hiking and exploring a new jewel from Ontario.
Georgian Bay National Park
The Beausoleil Island is the largest island in the National Park of the Bay of Georgia. The park is in the largest freshwater archipelago in the world and covers 63 islands in the Bay of Eastern Georgia. Beausoleil Island is home to a wide range of ecosystems, from deciduous forests to marshes. It is a paradise for fauna. You will find everything, from black bears to Eastern Massasauga snakes in the process of endangered. There is even a path named after the Massasauga on the island. The Massasauga Eastern Massasauga is the only poisonous snake in Ontario. But don’t let that scare you. They usually avoid people and warn you of course with their rattle if you are too close. Simply give it distance and respect and it will do the same.
Did you know? The Georgian Bay National Park was the 3rd Canada National Park, created in 1929.
Honey port
We arrive in Honey Harbor around noon and caught our Daytripper tickets. Honey Harbor is a charming little town of chalet. And this is where the boat that transports you to the island of Beausoleil leaves. We decided to refuel for our hike with a lunch before the departure time of the boat. Lauren has caught the Ruche vegan ice cream, which is a shop selling everything, from clothes to food supplies. Lindsay and I each caught a divine buffalo chicken burger with fries on it, food truck in front of the hive. We all pulled a Muskoka chair on the rear deck of the hive. It was a privileged place for dinner because he looks at Honey Harbor.
Full and satisfied, we headed for the quay to catch the Daytripper boat on Beausoleil Island. Putting on our flamboyant orange life vests in hand, we crossed charming chalets on their own private islands, boaters enjoying the last summer days and to our destination.
Make sure to reserve your tickets for the Daytripper At least a few days in advance. There are limited places and a single boat trip per day towards the northern part of the island.
Beausoleil Island
I radiated while we are approaching our platform on the island. There rises from the water’s edge was the glorious Canadian shield. This is where South Ontario meets the North. The rock had a delicate pink shade and seemed to dominate the northern part of the island. Our plan was to hike to the two main loop paths on the northern part of Beausoleil, with a stop to rest and dive at Honeymoon Bay. We left for the first time on the Cambrian path which took us to the huge Canadian shield, by small dog canal and through an enchanted forest. Then we met Fairy Trail which is the most remarkable and picturesque path of the island.
The island’s landscape was different from everything I saw in Ontario. Massive rocks rising, a large wind swept from pines and brilliant dark blue water all contributed to striking wild beauty. It is not surprising that the seven group was inspired to paint here, some of their most famous pieces capturing a slice of this beautiful island. The north end of the island of Beausoleil is home to trails, lakes and berries with the most enchanting names. There is a fairy trail and a fairy lake, a honeymoon bay and a Goblin lake. Even mushrooms and Tamias were like something pages of a fairy tale.
I was completely in love with the island, his amazing landscape and superb hiking trails. Not only is the island of Beausoleil is a jewel of Ontario, but I dare say an essential visit to Canadians and international travelers.
Again, always say yes to adventures! You never know what incredible places you will see and the magnificent memories you will take.
